obsolete air filter

Anyone know what to use in place of or where to obtain an apparently obsolete air filter for a 1982 kz250. Pretty sure they're no longer availble. What's to be used in place other than a K&N?
Not sure I want to use one of those on the bike.

I've had no problems with them on my bike. I don't care what the nay Sayers do.

Actually, everything I see on the internet shows that filter as still being available from Kawasaki, so I recommend you just order one online or from a local dealer. Here's the diagram and part number. Ed

Partzilla lists the 11013-1039 air filter as Part Obsolete. There's one listed on eebbaayy, but it's old & pricy, and the sealing foam has deteriorated. If you have a used one, one option is to make a filter, using the old as a template. I've seen how-tos, so it can be done.

Too bad; I saw it available on several other sites and thought there might still be a chance to get one. Ed

Hi all, well checked with my local bike shop and apparently the original air filter element for the 82 kz25kz250 is still availble so he says.

I've used K&N but you have to use their Air Filter oil if you want it to run right. Otherwise it's too free flowing and you run lean.
Don't fix it until it's broken.

I have used foam insulation from the hardware store a few times and it seems to work for replacing the sealing foam. I get the 3/4 inch wide with tape on one side. Nice tight seal. I completely clean off all the old foam with a wire brush followed by brake cleaner to insure a nice clean surface on which to apply the new foam.
