k&n air filters
19 Sep 2015 06:21 - 19 Sep 2015 06:50Attachment IMG_7459.jpg not found
Hello,
i just try to revome the big air filter box from my kz1000 ltd 78 b2 to replace it by 4 k&n filters cones.
But i can't, The part under the seat, no problem. But the part connected to the carbureactors seems too big.
1/ Do i have to rmove carbureactors too?
2/ i see a small tube under this box connected to the motor. What is it ? What must i do with this, because i will have nothing like that with my 4 k&n filters...
Thank you
Fox

Why in the world would you want to remove a perfectly good airbox? Do you know how hard it is to tune the carburetors to run without it?
If you really need to proceed, please be very careful with the airbox and all its parts. Keep them all together and in tact in case you decide to reinstall it. Otherwise, you can sell it for a tidy sum to somebody who threw theirs away.
It will be easier to remove the box after removing the intake boots, but it is even easier with the caruberators out. You are going to have to remove them anyway to install the new jets.
That little hose connects the crankcase breather to the airbox. With out the box, you should remove the hose and replace it with a much longer piece and route it high under the seat. some folks buy a small filter to put on the vent rather than using the hose. Some do not
Please open the HOME pulldown menu above and choose the search function. Type "pods" into the box and spend some time reading.

I ever have troubles in fact. It's why i would like to try those filters.
My actual problem is because the motorcycle don't have punch at all when i start to drive.
But after i ride 1 hour the puch is back... and it's a bomb
The first owen tell me it was carbureactors trouble. But after synchronise them the problem is still here...

Removing the airbox and putting on pods to get more punch?  Well you may feel like punching the guy who sold you the pods, but I don't think pods are going to help your bike's performance problem. On the bright side though, they will give you an opportunity to become a carb expert, Ed

In any event you need a manual. Valves adjusted? Do that BEFORE going to the carbs. Take off the carbs and the air box will pull right out.
Don't throw it away.

Removing the airbox isn't going to fix your problem. Chances are the 38yr old carbs probably need a good cleaning and the bike a basic tune up like Steve suggested

I'm going to recheck my valves. I'll take pics of it.
It's not that difficult.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationHi,
What do you think about that :
A must have ?
And this kind of work ? kdx125.pagesperso-orange.fr/Page17.html
Possible to synchronise carburetors by watching black/white candles?
Regards,
Fox

If the bike is in good enough shape (good compression, good spark, carbs clean etc) thebike will have punch as soon asyou get off choke and warmed up. A carb synch won't really fix all of that, step one; set valves. Two; clean carbs and a quick bench synch. Three; compression check, finally you can go for the vacuum sync. I haven't vacuum synced the last three bikes I have put together, they just run too darn well to bust out any tools.
