won't rev off idle was created by oreis
I have a 78 kz400. and running mikuni vm32's brand new. the bike starts and idles great, with the choke on i can rev the bike up just fine and its sounds great and runs smooth. When i switch he choke off it still ideas great but i can't touch the throttle without it dying. I sprayed some starter fluid on the slide and it still dies. I don't have any vacuum leaks either.

not positive im e-mailing the company i got them from. they say its pre jetted for a kz400 which typically doesn't work out. i did turn the idea screws up a little bit since i couldn't get it to idle before but i think that was a coil issue so i will turn them back down a little.

. It sounds like your piolets are to small. I think Raising the needle a spot might help if the screw doesn't.

- good luck

yes the kit came with uni pod filters. the pilot jets are 20 right now, the air screws are 1 full turn out and i lowered the idle and it runs the best here and i can rev up slowly. i just can't crack the throttle fast

Can't crack the throttle fast? How fast? Besides that are you trying to run a motor WFO without load? Bikes really arent made to go wide open from a rest. They all have some hesitation, which is usually worse when cool, bike ever get up to temp before you stab it? Try taking it around the block a few times then see how it performs (performs, like rides, not the idle in neutral to wide frollicking open test too many folks do)

1 turn out says your piolets are about right for idle. I would try adjusting your needle clip down. You can even do half steps by shimming with little washers you can pick up at radio shack. Neddle being to far down can cause a lot of leanness at low to mid throttle.

im not trying to go wide open just flip the throttle quick. i can roll into it like you are just going around the block . if i try to bring it up quick it falls on its face. i tried to go wot just to see if it would pick up back up and it dies. i will mess with the needles shortly right now my concern is the right cylinder. its running mainly on the left cylinder if i pull the plug boot off the right it runs if i pull it off the left it dies. both are getting spark from the new coil and both are getting fuel. if i rev it up a bit and pull the left boot off it stays running

no intake leaks i was thinking maybe valve train on the right side. it has compression if i pull the filter off and put my hand over the intake of the carb it sucks my hand to it and dies

You are not likely to get perfect performance on a cold bike.

Have you pulled the plugs and got an idea if you're rich/lean yet? Have it fall on it's face and flip the kill switch pull the plugs and get a look at what the bike is doing
