No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationAbout two weeks ago, I bought a couple project bikes from a guy in Texas, a 76 KZ400 S2 and an 81 KZ305. He had two spare carbs with the bikes and said they went with the KZ400, but after starting the rebuild on them using kz400.com I realized that both the spare carps actually go to the KZ305.

There is a carb on ebay right now that the seller says is from a 1977,1978,1979,1980 KZ400 that LOOKS the same and I think that they had the same carbs in 76 but I do not know for sure. ()

The question is, what carbs will fit on the 76 S2?

Or if anyone has the two to one conversion on their S2 how did you do that? Ive seen the ones with the Mikuni VM34 on some newer models but with how the frame is on the 76 there doesn't seem to be enough space to fit the single since that part of the frame is not split?

I don't think they are for your bike. Honda? Maybe. I've seen ones listed.

I just looked. They might be but beware of the guy with the silver dollar. He's a crook in my opinion.

Wow, thank you swest! I'm emailing the seller to make sure of the width and model it came off with. That is a lot cheaper then the others as well.

I like that style carbs. No diaphragm to wear out. It needs to be super clean with no scratches. They were on some Honda's including the GL 1000's back in the day. Very dependable carb.

If you want to stick with the stock-ish carbs for your 76 then you'll want carbs from a 74-76 KZ400. The 77+ had the rubber diaphragm rather than the metal slide. However, they did use different jetting over the years and in different locations (US vs Euro vs Germany). I don't know if there would be too much difference but you may have to make some jetting tweaks depending on what you find.

The 2-into-1 is tough to do on the earlier KZ400s because of the single pipe backbone, you basically have to angle it out one side or the other. I've had good luck replacing the stock carbs with a pair of Mikuni VM30s but that can get a little pricey and I'd recommend the stock carbs if they're in good shape and you can get them running well.

Best of luck.
