Air Vent Hose Length

How long are these typically supposed to be? Neither set of VM29s I've owned had any to begin with and I'd like to get a pair on there.

Mine come up and over the air box. Two slots for them. Too short critters can get in there.

Interesting thread. Luckily no mud daubers that I know of here in the mid Atlantic. I'll have to be on the lookout when I move out west in a couple years.
No air box on my kawi at the moment, though at that length I could run them under the seat or something.
I've also read about them going further back to the swingarm, and that incorrect routing can lead to carbs not running right. Any thoughts on how important length and routing of these really is?

They are just to allow air to equalize the pressure in the bowls.

Any length and routing are okay so long as a hose is not kinked.
