VM29 jetting for 738cc performance Bike was created by Dirtyhands
Hey all, Let me start out by thanking everyone that helped me out with my Cam degreeing. The bike bike is mostly great now but needs the carb jetting ironed out to be perfect. In addition to valves and degreeing the cams I've essentially switched out the entire electrical system and while the bike seems to improve on every step I take it still has some bugs.

This is the set up

Kz650 with Big Bore 738cc kit
.410" lift cams with 250degree duration
Dyna S cdi with Dyna 3ohm coils
Electrosport stator and regulator/rectifier installed with new motobatt battery
4into1 pipe
2 2into1 pod fiters
The carbs are VM29 smoothbore carbs

The current jetting in the VM29s is what I assume to be to rich with a 135 main jet 20pilot jet 2.5 valve seat 1.5 slide and 5dl31 needle
I'm getting pretty awful gas mileage and having some inconsistency in my idle and at times mid throttle (around 6000 rpm) Let me know what you guys think, and here's a picture of er.

Sudco lists 25 pilot and 125 main as a starting point. for a 750cc motor.
The VM29's get a weak idle signal on the smaller motors and need a big pilot jet to pull fuel.

Right now I've got 22.5 and 122.5 in mine and it's on the lean side
and will be upping both just need to order some 25 and 27.5 polits and some
125, 127.5 and 130 mains to finish tuning them.

Needle clip one up from bottom or number three slot.

Aslo theres an air jet thats down in one of the little holes as you look in from the filter side.
The smoothies can be a bitch to tune the idle/off idle as they were designed as an after market
race carb so idling was not high on the design list.

To be honest if my little bike wasn't track only I'd put a set
of VM28 pumper carb's on it.

Awesome Zuk ....... I have alot more work to get too before I tackle the 29s ...... but probably in the spring..... appreciate the info .... had em on my stock 650 for years with 17.5s and 117.5s and always had that little stubble off idle I could never get rid of !! Went back with the stock 24s a while back since the 900 manifolds finally cracked up too bad to use.

You ment too the 4th slot on the nettle right as you said one up from the bottom ? Will go with at least 20 pilots and 120s to 122.5s.....

How about the air screw ...... turns out ??........... I run in way cooler air than you....... 65 to 85 degrees (mostly 70-75) and am at approx 200 foot above sea level too.............
