Leaking overflow tube. 78 KZ 1000

Exactly....what? Over flow tube on carb bowl leaks.
Was checking for proper fuel level with clear tube . Level was fine but still had gas leak from the over flow.
So I remove it pure gas into it and it leak. Both right side bowls leak.
Is their a fix? Maybe to JB Weld around the tube and bowl body?

Sometimes the tubes crack. I'd get a new floatbowl. JB Weld isn't designed to remain submerged in gasoline night and day. You can purchase proper gas tank sealing compounds, but replacing the bowl with a better part may be the easier repair.

Is that silicon on the gasket? Soldering it is a crap shoot. Keep in mind the solder will follow the heat. I would get some pretinned flux at HD, heat the bottom from the outside, brush the flux all over it focusing on the bottom. Clean the brass first of course. Then solder the piss out of it. You can get a sized drill bit to clean out the tube.

In doing copper plumbing repairs, water in the pipes and old copper fittings are the problem. Pretinned flux makes it much easier to deal with. The flux follows the heat as well.

Spyde, It was pointed out you can't solder aluminum. I was suggesting a way to get the solder into the crack that travels into the aluminum. Pretinned solder is good for penetration.

Anyone got two 78 kz1000 26mm bowls for sale. Carbs have the pilot jet underneath.

Is there a crack in the overflow tube, or has the overflow tube loosened where it attaches to the bowl, or perhaps both cracked and loosened?

There are various methods to seal a crack in the overflow tube, which are often repairable to a good long-term serviceable condition.

I don't see a crack on the tube nor is the tube loose.
Seems like gas gets pass between tube and the body.

You could try using a small deep socket to crimp around the inside part of the tube.

If the float bowl is filled with common household rubbing alcohol, does the filled float bowl get completely empty via drainage through the outlet nipple as if there was no overflow tube?
If all of the alcohol drains out of the float bowl, it would indicate a leak where the overflow tube attaches to the float bowl, even though the tube doesn't seem loose where it attaches to the float bowl. This could be more difficult to repair as compared to sealing a crack in the overflow tube.

If only part of the alcohol drains out of the float bowl, there may be a hairline crack in the side of the overflow tube that's hard to see and being overlooked (which hairline crack is often repairable).
Only partial drainage would indicate that there's no leakage at the juncture where the overflow tube attaches to the float bowl.

Good point. If it does drain maybe some crazy glue would be worth a try. Bowls would be best of course if attainable.

Found a hair line crack with a magnifying glass
3mm from the bottom to 5mm from top.
What is the best way to weld it since the tube is copper?
