so the number two carb over flow has a steady drip of gas coming from it. like one drop every 3-4 minutes. even when the gas line is off and disconnected. ive been through the carbs and know the float valve is not obscured or stuck open. any ideas to try out for when i get home?

The petcock might have a slight leak. It might be one of the adjacent valves. Try a Q tip dipped in polishing compound with a drill to clean up the seats. Mine were bad so I used a pencil whittled down except the point so it would fit. Fine valve grinding compound and cleaned up the angled seat. Used #600 paper to clean up the needle. A piece of 1/4" tubing, paper on a flat stick and made it look like new. No ring. If that fails, new ones are called for.

it cant be the petcock, it leaks just sitting on my work bench with sea foam in it. i will try the q-tip trick but ive already cleaned the valve with sand paper. and going to break it down one more time and clean it. its throwing me off how its leaking even without anything flowing into the carbs. maybe a bad gasket on the drain screw?

That will make it lead for sure. I think you need to replace the float valves and NEVER touch them with anything abrasive. Ed

Pull the floats out and see if they float in water. Might have a bad one, I did.

So I took them off and all of them where full of sea foam except the one dripping. It was bone dry after dropping all night. So that means it's not the valve must be a bad seal on the drain screw?

Check the overflow tube for a crack, then solder the crack shut.

Looks like it was the screw. Replaced it with another I had and now it's stopped. Also took the air compressor to it so it also could have been something stopping it from making a prober seal. Thanks for your help guys
