Hey guys!! I'm new to this forum and new to the kz/motorcycle world! Forgive me if This post isn't in the right spot. Anyways I bought me a kz750 e. (4cyl) with mikuni carbs and I'm doing a cafe project with it. Anyways I'm probably going to weld me a 4to1 exhaust and put pod filters and I need to of course rejet the carbs. I'm kinda lost here since I never done it.
Current main jets are 125. I was going to buy 130s and see where that gets me by looking at the plugs. Any tips or anything I can base myself on?
I'm sure this is asked a loopy but I found little info on this specific set of carbs.

hey steve,
I havent done any exhaust work yet. but i like the way 4 into 1 exhausts look. not sure if straight pipe or muffled, i read straight pipes don't perform so good. as far as filters im gona get some K&Ns. i just want to know what jets to get, a good place to start i guess.
Main jets are 62 i believe and secondmain 125s. or the other way around. what ever makes more sense.
i heard i want to add 5 if i go with both exhaust and POD filters. im not sure if that goes with all bikes or its different between bikes.
not sure pics of what you wanted.

There are good 4/1 exhausts available used. There is a good thread about straight pipes and how they perform against baffled. They even installed a bolt and got more power out of a open pipe on a Dyno.
Just want pics of the bike. I was a line welder and wanted to make my own in the 70's. Never did. Too many guys beat me to it. Now I run a V/H 4/1 and love it. I just want to ride, not fuss around with this thing. Better things to do.
Go a step up with pods, another with 4/1, another uncorked. Check your plugs.

Making you own exhaust system is sort of like taking out your own tonsils. It can be done, but the odds are that the results won't be great. Ed

There are a bunch of discussion threads about jetting for pods and various exhaust configurations. There is also a thread with a link to an article about exhaust theory and design. I think it is titled, for the scientifically minded. Use the search text box to locate these discussions. One of the members here dived deeply into the custom exhaust world (OMR??). I think it exhausted him first.
