how to get Mikuni BS34 carbs slides to work
26 Mar 2015 18:10
im working on a project. I currently have a 1981 kz 1000j all rebuilt on a pulling tractor. im having problems with the slides working correctly with out the vacume from the valcover breather assembly. no stock air box ,just pods aftermarket pipe and dino jet kit . and no top end slides working . I know its cause I don't have the vacume lines running for the valve cover breather hoses assembly,i have those 4 lines from the four carbs blocked off is there any spring kit for the slides available ? and who makes them. I thought about cutting them down but don't know how much to cut off. is there ayt body out there who did this? or do I need this stock vacume set up or can I buypass it with weeker springs.

WHAT??
The air injection system has nothing to do with the slides moving, and it does not have four hoses. Why do you think the slides are not moving?

Lines from carbs, i'm assuming vacuum sync ports.
Pods and cv carbs are tricky, but make sure your pods dont cover up and of the vacuum ports on the throat of the carb.

Valves properly adjusted?
Cams properly timed?
Chinese pods? ( blockd ports mentioned above.)
Slide diaphragms cracked or torn?
Fuel line kinked?
Paper fuel filter?
Clogged fuel filter?
Carb bowl vent blocked?

ok I had these carbs apart 30 times ! I thought the sliders were not working but I was wrong they are working.if I run it half choke it revs up fine . so that would tell me its starving for fuel. floats needel and seats are new floats are set.the dino jet kit I got required drilling out the air jet on the intake side of he carbs.im thinking theres a brass shaving stuck some where in that long small passage would that explain running good half choke?it wont reve up off idel unless choke is half way on. also I have a open pipe no baffle. does that have anything to do with it!!!!!does anybody have any idea whats going on ill take all guesses!!!!!!half choke sounds good.

Put your thumb over the large vent at the top back of the carb. Push the slide up and see if it falls fast or slow. If fast the diaphragms are shot. If not too lean. No baffle just makes it leaner.

I messed with these carbs for weeks. I thought I could run a open header but not with what I had available .but low and behold it was the baffle I was missing. now it sounds great. thanks again!!!!!!!!!
