Looked around but couldn't find a good thread. When aftermarket carbs are used, are there flow issues? I am running RS34 and I was told from a friend that I would need a new higher flowing fuel valve. Also how do people feel about inline fuel filters? Will gravity feeding fuel with a filter have enough flow to not half fill float bowls?

Likely others with more knowlege than I will chime in, I would think you will be ok, but if it presents itself as a problem after you install them,, get a pingle...I hear that they are kinda pricey, but a lot of racers use them...And as long as the filter is designed for gravity feed, and is not for a pressurized system...you should be good to go. (IMO) I have used filters for polaris snowmobiles with good results.

I have a'71 650 Yamaha(750 kit) with 34mm Sudco carbs with the original petcocks. One to each carb with fuel filters and have had no problems. My Rickman Kawasaki has 2 Pingels with filters and 34mm smoothbores and these work fine too.The Pingles are definitely pricey. The '75 Z1 has the stock petcock and 28mm carbs with filters and also works fine.I suspect you could save some money by going with what you have .You'll notice if it doesn't work. You might be able to put it on a dyno for the cost of 2 Pingels.

No, you won't need a new petcock. I use an in line fuel filter on my KZ1000p. Bought it at napa. Never had a problem. Change it every other year. Not that I have to but I don't want to get stuck out in the boonies.

I have an 80 Ltd 1000, 1075 kit RS 34s, stock petcock, & inline filters, & everything works fine
I bought a Pingle, & it was longer than the stock petcock & was hitting the R S 34s, so I stuck with the stock petcock

If you're having problems, check the strainers in the tank. If there's a sediment bowl on the petcock, clean it too. I've been using bullet style filters for years. You can find the small ones at any off road shop. I have VM 33's and no problem, in fact when I had a stuck float, gas was pouring out and into #1 fouling it.
