29 mm smoothbore mikuni carbs
30 Oct 2014 15:57
Does anybody know what the 29 mm smoothbore mikuni carbs are worth? I have a very clean set. I am curious because I am putting a z1 back to stock and have someone interested in them.

I wish I'd bought some but noooooooo I had to have the 33's. PITA. Discontinued. I got them for $100 but some dork drilled the mixers, took the jetting as far as possable, flat spots everywhere, didn't have ebay then, so I've been playing with jetting ever since. This build I sat down and soldered up the mixers useing my 28's as a guide, went Micuni on line and found out what the jetting was supposed to be. I can't go back to 17.5 piolets untill I change the nossels and needles. I'm real close at 60/125. No flat spots and not washing out my rings. The throttle cutaways are 2.0, should be 1.50. I can't do anything about that unless I buy some for the 34's and do some drilling and threading. I could shave the slides to make the cutaway right but at this point, I'll live with them. Mike at Z1 said they always had problems jetting the 33's Oh well, 28's on stand by in case I want to jettison the 33's. I saw a set go for upwards of $700. Mine are well used so I'd be lucky to get half that.

You will be disappointed if you take those carbs off and put stock back. Just sayin'. Of course to each their own.

Just checked and those don't look like smoothbores to me.
