I'm having a real hard time getting my 29's to idle below 1500 RPMs. I haven't ridden with them yet but I'm not sure what's causing this issue. The last set of 29's I had on my Z1-R ran really well...and idled at 1000 no problem. I'm not even sure it's the carbs though...this bike never has idled real well (I bought it as a non-runner). I really need to try a set of carbs that I know are good and see how they do.

What are the slide cutouts? And is the bench sync alittle wide? That may cause the idle to be high.
Good luck

Good luck

I have the correct 1.5 slides and the bench synch seems pretty good...I set them right at the specified gap. It doesn't really idle high, it just won't idle low. The engine dies out at anything below 1500 or so, and it takes its good old time settling down after a rev.

I can see that one slide is looser than the others in the slide bore....is there a way to check to see if air is getting past the slides? I'm thinking that might be why I'm having such a hard time tuning these things. Also, on a possibly related note, the air screws seem to make very little difference when adjusted throughout their range.
