Best advice anyone can give you is to hold on to that stock airbox in case you cannot get the pods to produce decent power throughout the rpm range. You have your work cut out for you. Ed

i do not honestly know what its worth maybe someone on here can give us an idea. i will post pics when i get a chance. but as far as the others said i will prob hold onto it for a couple weeks make sure i can get pods and make them work prior to selling. but will post pics and can discuss a price in the mean time. thanks all. and foolish mortal? is that you nicely saying im an idiot lol. if it is a bad idea i do not have to do it. just seems much easier to me but i am not very exp. on this matter.

Well it is easier than removing your own tonsils, but it certainly isn't as easy as using the airbox that was designed for your engine. You may want to use the SEARCH feature on this site to retrieve and read the more than 7,800 postings on the subject of pods. Here's how:

Well No it's not easier than stock... But it's not that difficult and when you get it dialed in the extra umph... is worth it
Many of those 7,800 post about pods will give you the jetting info to start with for your bike and you may or may not have to go on from there  A little tinkering and you'll be smiling

Any dyno info on that "extra oomph"? I haven't yet seen any, but I would truly love to. Everything I have read to date about putting pods on stock engines has shown that any marginal increase in power comes at maximum rpm (which makes sense considering at lower rpm any air filter passes enough air volume), and that at lower rpm there typically is a slight power loss with pods. The only dyno info I have seen where stock engines were switched to pods is in the study done years ago by Cycle World (see link below). They were not impressed with pods. If new documented tests are available I haven't seen them. I suspect some of the perceived improvements in power are the result of tuning in pods reasonably well on carbs that were already not clean or tuned correctly for the stock airbox, but that's just a guess on my part. In that case there could be a marked performance improvement. Ed

ok so when i say easier, i mean as far as removal. so if i can get some secret tip on how to get the carbs in and out with ease that could solve my delima. should i heat the boots with a dryer or something to install or remove to make the boots more plyable? just seemed very difficult to remove. and as far as pods go seem cheaper too. but it looks like im stiring up some very big debate here lol

Just get new airbox to carb boots. Unlike old ones that get hard as stone they are pliable. If you want the new ones to be even more pliable when working with them soak them in hot water first. I didn't find this necessary, but folks who did it thought it made things very easy. Ed
