Carburetor KIT/ WILL IT FIT? was created by DWalk02
Hey folks im new to the Kawasaki world. Looking forward to diggin in to my new project 1981(frame) 1982 KZ750H3 engine. I have a few questions if any of you would be willing to help that would be great. First off the guy I bought the bike from gave me two sets off carbs both of them off a kz650. Will they fit my 750? My second question is could any one tell me the difference in these two carbs other that the obvious.

Wow bud carbs are a finicky thing even the right O.E.M. carbs can be difficult to dial in. I would talk to the guys on here that have your bike and see what they think would be best for your complete( airbox-breather- exhaust setup). It depends on your intentions for the bike as well. I see the one set of carbs had an accelerator pump so be to buy a rebuild kit for that if you use those carbs it will save you a headache in the long run and may even be the issue from the green light with those carbs if they didnt work properly Cleaning carbs properly is another whole issue if you have never done it READ READ READ first watch a video several times. Man good luck and as far as 650 carbs on a 750 if they did work your power output will be decreased and affected.

Well this sight is a wealth of knowledge it does take a little getting used to navigating but the answers are here and the people that can help. Good luck with your bike When you do decide the carbs to use be sure the clamps are super tight no airleaks no weather rotten intake boots from carb to motor leaks cause problems. Those carbs are FILTHY I would get them pro cleaned- ultrasonic cleaned if your not a seasoned mechanic. At very least buy a good carb soak and you will need an air compressor, straws and syringes are nice to have, Its intricate work getting them thoroughly cleaned also while they are apart you have to jet them to work with the rest of your system. Airbox-breather-exhaust. These guys can tell you what jetting works best or at least where to start for your setup.

Both sets are VM24 carburetors found on the 77-81 KZ650s.
The 1st set has the accelerator pump which was added in 1978 or thereabouts.
Either set can be used on the KZ750, but if you plan on keeping the stock aribox, the ducts are NLA & good used ducts are going to be hard to find. You would also need the KZ650 carb holders.

Thanks for identifying the model on those. I do have the holders, i just couldnt figure out which kit to buy. There are so many more than i originally anticipated. Thanks for the clarification on it fitting or not. I dont however have the original breather box so probably gonna put the pod filters on them. Thanks again much appreciated. The day I thought was gonna be a wreck.

Yes. VM24s have the ribs on the carb bodies.

Im not trying to question your knowledge bud but the kits im shopping for online do not match at all, to the bowl shape or any of the internals

Post a photo of the underside of the carbs w bowls removed.
And a link of the kits or a part number & site.
I wouldn't buy any kits yet. The bowl gaskets are not the same in the 2 sets of carbs. And the jets included in the kits may not do you any good. You're going to need to do some research to figure out a good starting point for the jetting.

KZ650 w VM24 carbs, pod filters, & 4-1 exhaust: ~#115 main jets - #17.5 pilot jets - jet needles clipped to raise them some.
