Soft Parts for Carburetor rebuilds KZ650SR
13 Apr 2014 17:10
Where can I buy all the o-rings etc to put 4 rebuilt carbs back into a Carburetor Assembly???
Z1 ????
at Kawasaki.com I could only get an exploded view with no decoding of the numbers pointing to Items so I not even sure what I need is actually called to search for them
Also it seems there was a great tutorial for cleaning carbs when doing a rebuild, can't seem to find it here yet??
Any help with a useful diagram and maybe some one who carries these parts
1 last thing..... any knowledge about Canadian model carbs vs U.S.model

Cycleorings.com sells a VM carb kit, but it's originally intended for Suzuki Mikuni's so not positive if all the parts will fit.

kawasaki.com seems to be working normally with the Z1-A carb and carb assembly being shown in the same diagram, and the parts list underneath.
Here's a screen capture of the "assembly."
Sometimes the parts listing may be hidden from view and needs to be dragged up from bottom of screen.
Good Fortune!

CycleOrings.com has kits for the VM24 carbs. Z1Enterprises.com sells the starter plunger caps & they may have the starter plunger o-rings (they are an odd size, having a thin cross section).
I got a metric nitrile o-ring kit from HarborFreight. The sizes may not have been perfect but they worked fine. The dealer at the time had the starter plunger o-rings, and I got the starter plunger caps & gaskets from Z1Ent. (starter plunger = choke plunger).

Martin
All the o-rings shown as part of the VM kit appear to be the orings contained in the carb rebuild kits I have.
I am looking for the o-rings that connect carbs 1-2 and 3-4 and rubber/seal where the fuel inlet tee goes between 2-3
And as I understand your original post none of these are for the starter plunger? correct? These will need to be sourced separately?

Here's the carb parts list for the KZ650-F1. I believe you will find it very similar to your bike's carbs. Ed

There is a Carburetor Assy diagram & there should also be a Carburetor Parts diagram, but you'll have to use Partzillla or some other site as Kawasaki.com no longer provides that diagram.
The metric o-ring kits are pretty cheap & come in handy for other stuff.... get nitrile or viton rubber. Some auto parts stores sell individual o-rings from the kits.
Z1Enterprises has the carburetor fuel fittings, choke plunger caps, & various o-rings.
Z1Enterprises.com - Fuel Rail Aluminum Suzuki --- ZSM05-1009
They have a similar fuel Tee & an oem Fuel Pipe Joint (#16046-002)

Yes there is a diagram (exploded view) with numbers 1,2,3 etc but no list identifying those numbers by name or Kawasaki P/N
What I am looking for is what was posted by 650ed except for this model as I was hoping it would show what these adjusting screws or whatever they are called in the bottom of the fuel bowls??? See Pictures
I don't know if they are related to being a Canadian Model or if the year is not correct for 1978 Models??
My Cylmers from 1979 shows no such thing???

Take a look at the images below - items 29 - 32. I think the screws in your photos are the pilot adjusting screws. Some carbs had air screws, some had pilot screws, and some (a few) had both. Hopefully the images below provide the part numbers info you are looking for. Ed

Thanks
Maybe I have the info and didn't even know it, I took those screws shown which do show in my manual to be INSIDE the fuel bowl, I used to make those type of drawings for 20 yrs. and if it is really on the outside/thru the bowl this drawing is not correct at all, no wonder I was confused
Well much progress made today, gotta get some parts ordered, and get these cleaned and back together, my son's already bugging me, and I don't really want to pony up my key
Thanks to everyone..... and if anyone has more info, would be glad to read it.....

For the carb parts breakdown, you're going to have to use Partzilla or some other on-line place.
Apparently, it seems that Kawasaki is no longer providing that diagram.
