Kawasaki KZ750E with cone filters

I have Kaawasaki KZ750E with 4xCV34 carbs and cone filters on each. Could you give me what base adjustment should be of the pilot/mixture screw? Idle for these bikes should be 1000-1100rpm? The main problem is that if/when I start the bike ant give some rpms they drop slowly. So this is the symptom of rich or lean mixture? Thank you.

2) this site has a search function, CV carbs with pod filters have been covered before, many times
post a pic of your carbs and filters, some filters will work and some don't
3) the hanging/slow to return to idle is typical of a lean condition

Are those K&N filters? The filters that have problems with CV type carbs are the cheap
Emgo filters. They block off the air ports on the intake side of the carb and really mess up
the signal to the jets. K&N's and Uni's are better at not blocking those ports.

Having said that, I have had K& N pods on mine and have had the pilot mix screw out as much as 3 turns. It is easy to experiment. Like the guys say check for air leaks.
Also, some cheap pods have an internal lip which can block off some of the inlets on the carbs. See the areas circled in red in the attached pics. The carbs in the pic are my Keihin CV34s but your should be similar. K&N pods do not block these inlets. Check the inside of your pods to see it there is anything which can block or partially block these inlets/holes.

ZX750E would be a 84-85 750 Turbo. 83-85 ZX750A was a GPz750 with Mikuni carbs.
I think he/she is just mistaken on the model year.

I'm sure you're right steell. It does look like an early 80s motor with a mid 80s tank so 87 has got to be a typosteell wrote:

There's another thread in the Chassis Forum about a 750H with a GPz tank and seat. Strange to have two pop up at the same time.
