Accelerator pumps on 29mm smoothbores was created by mtbspeedfreak
Is it possible to pull the accelerator pump system off of the VM28s and install them on VM29s? Obviously getting the nozzle out of the 28s and drilling/installing them in the 29s would be very tricky - has anyone done that before?

I know some rare 29s came with accelerator pumps - is it possible to retrofit a set I already have?

It would be easier and make more sense to bore out the 28's to 29 once you have removed the nozzles.
You'll save yourself a ton of work not having to drill for the nozzles etc and also reduce the risk of turning two sets of carbs to scrap.

It has been my experience over several decades of carb restoration that the pumper system on the kz carbs to 1980 is a joke. Leave as-is. Before you try anything, check the bowls off the 28's and the 29's and check for fitment. You will be in for a surprise. On my 80 1000 shaft, I completely removed the entire accelerator assembly (as I do ALL my "pumpers" and replaced with standard bowls off an earlier year of 26's., Re-jetted accordingly, and they run like a raped ape. Unless your fuel supply is "clean room" perfect, the system becomes clogged VERY easily. Keep in mind that the function of the pump is for a very short "squirt" on rapid acceleration. They serve no purpose when the machine is under normal running condition. Amazing things can be accomplished whith proper jetting and needle clip positions. Just sayin...
