Hey CRH I took the pods off and took for a road test, what a difference revs real nice now and no sputtering what can I do now for air filters?

BINGO :)

You'll have to grind them or send them back and get the correct filters.

At the top of the carb bell mouth, where the filters mount, there's a port. It's the only port up at the top of the bell mouth. The filters must be blocking it. Make a reference mark on the filters somewhere so you can index them to the carb when you reinstall them. Gind the rubber on the filter so that it doesn't block that port. Be careful you don't grind through the filter. Put the 165's from the kit back in the carbs.

I spent the money on the K&N filters for my '82. Read too many stories that sounded like yours from the emgo type pods. I have not had an issue with the K&N's other than they are pricey for what they are.

yes i put the uni filters on mine. jet kit should be in today. hope fully i wont have to pull it apart more than a couple times to tune it.
