Going rate on 29s was created by b200driver
Old newbie here. I am thinking about getting my 900 back on the road. It was parked due to kids and other responsibilities. I fooled with these bikes quite a bit back in the day, and will need to do a refresh on the engine, though it runs fine. I used to have several sets of 29 and 33 mikunis around. The 29's were always best for a street bike IMO. It appears that I have sold all of that stuff :(

I was looking at Ebay and just about died seeing the prices. So the question is this: What is the going rate for a rack of 29's?

You should expect to pay (for a decent rebuilt set) somewhere north of US$600...

I sold my set of 29's for $700 on ebay and purchased a brand new set of RS 34's form Orient Express for $615.00

So I made $85.00 and got a set of RS34's to boot...... :woohoo:

They go from $500 to $800.00 based on condition. I say $800 due to sale on Flea Bay....link below.

what about boring your standard set? I have read the pro's about that. Not heard much con stuff. And it appears to be cheaper.

Those 29's are quite popular it seems. Even I traded a KZ250 for a set in the early 80's!

Don't be ridiculous! It's only a flesh wound!

check out zed1015's build thread on the zephyr framed streetfighter.he just bored a set of 26mm's out to 29 mm.he said the 26's were thicker in a key area than the 28's.

I bored the 26's out to 29.5mm,could have pushed them to 30mm but it's risky as the bottom of the boot groove measures 32mm so things start to get a bit thin at that point and there's probably no gain in going that far anyway.
The 28's are a different casting and fractionally thinner in the boot mount area so 29mm is max really unless you have a stack of spare bodies to play russian roulette with.

Hmm, there is an interesting idea. I used to have about a wheelbarrow full of those 26's. All gone now. I plan on using the stock airbox, so no CR's or flattys here. My bike is 99% stock right now (Kawasaki by Kerker 4-1) everything else is stock. Even the points, which will be going away I suppose. I may do a little resto-mod work, but I hate to hack it up too much. There are plenty of butchered KZ's out there, but not so many stock ones. The compressions are getting a little uneven so it is time for a refresh. I have a set of nice 78 Z1R rotors set aside for it. I need to get a RH caliper I think. I have been accumulating parts for a while. I have a 1015 cylinder block here so I can do 1075.
