hey guys there is a slice in the cap on my 31 CARB THAT PENETRATES THRU,,,dumb question that probably affects the carb doesn't it?

If it's a normal (non cv) slide carb it won't really be affected ( forgeting all arguments regarding air leakage past the slide and its bore), if it is a CV carb it will.
