Dumb Question?! was created by badrhino
I have always wondered about Yamaha Carbs and how they worked. How does a V-max carburetor work when it is mounted Horizontal? I guess the main question is, How do the float bowls hold any fuel in them at that angle?

They have the float bowls mounted at an angle.

Carbs mount at all kinds of angles, even updraft.

Better have another look. They must use a totally different float system.

I tried to upload an image but it wont let me.

Yes, and updraft carbs are built totally different to work properly. These carbs on the Vmax look just like CV carbs mounted horizontally. Float bowls are not angled however the inside I'm sure is totally different.

Firefox version 17 works just fine as always, but there are on-going image posting issues with later Firefox versions.

I think you better learn what horizontal and vertical mean. Vertical is how the carbs on a KZ or any other inline are mounted. Horizontal is sideways laying flat.

Are you thinking of these?

If so, these are a different Down Draft configuration. You can see the float bowls are nearly at the same level as the venturi, quite different. Haven't worked on any but the basics still apply.

Close, but I can actually see slanted float bowls on those. Here are the ones I am talking about.
