I'm curious to see if people are just using the standard 42mm basic pods or if anyone is using anything special. I had this crazy idea for a velocity stack inside a pod filter. has anyone done something like this or seen anything like this?

here's what i think is the best setup... there ramflow air filters. with built in velocity stacks.. they use to be very popular in the 70's and 80's!!! perorm extremely well through entire throttle range... no us distributors any more... there still available in australia. lynxcorp.com.au
priced about the same as k&n pod's.. but a whole lot better.. 160.00 per set and that includes shipping.. i bought 2 sets!!! best of both worlds; look great and perform even better...

those ramflow filters look pretty awesome. Im not surprised they exist, or that Dutch made his own. when i was looking at some old pod filters that originally cam e with my bike, i noticed the inside edge is square. i wonder if the reason they get such a bad rap for performance sometimes is because they don't have velocity stack in them. Even the stock air box boots are shaped like a velocity stack.

thanks for that link Peter, I went through that whole thread and ended up contacting Wompy (who made the stacks for Dutch) and bought a set of velocity stacks, with the filters 145 shipped, not bad.

Will those Ramflow work with the Z! sidecovers without interference?

Vance & Hines has individual pods that have internal velocity stacks built in. They are comparably priced with K&N and work very well. I haven't seen them advertised in quite a while but at one time they did offer them.

Am addicted to Z1's and kz 900's have an el camino, fly rc helicoptors and am strung out on horsepower.

i used emgo/generic filters with filter oil for the last 5 years on 29's...30-40 bucks a set...they spin on the clamped boot a tad and are a bit fussy to mount...worked fine for me , i thought ....i never had any sucking sound or cross draft issues like folks talk about...am planning on running an old set i have now, till new ones arrive, on my soon to arrive 29's

any links to a set of nice velocity stacks with screens around here
