KZ250 Single; Starts, revs itself, pops, dies

You'd be supprised how well it works when you re-assemble the carb correctly and don't install the float UPSIDE-FRIGGIN-DOWN!!! *sigh*
Anywho, she's running!!!! However, she's "popping" smoke out the carb once every 5 seconds or so. Could this be due to the break(completely disconnected under the rear brake lever) in the exhaust? I am also running it without the air-box, just using the boot for it as a makeshift 'velocity stack' intake.

Would assure valve clearances are within specs.
An intake valve with insufficient clearance may allow part of the combustion to escape through the intake and carbs.

I have since re-installed the stock airbox and repaired the break in the exhaust at the couply by the rear brake she's running much much better. =o)
For a while there she was wanting to cut off on me under mid to hard de-celeration, but once it's warmed up, it tends to stay running.
Happy-happy. Especially for what I paid for this bike =oD
