Do you think you might have put the cams in and missed the set up by one tooth? It happens and will cause all kinds of tuning problems.

I have pretty much the same setup as yours with the exception of a mild port job. I dumped a bunch of time and money into the BS34's trying to get them to work and I had the same symptoms you do. I eventually shelved the BS34's and bought Wired George's "VM30" performance carbs. I am currently dialing them in and am almost there. All my issues I had with the BS34's are gone with these. Just a thought. I have put the BS34 carbs on alot of bikes and got them to work pretty well but for whatever reason I could never get them to work with my current setup.

Refer to first post "cvcarbs are the devil" tape off some of the surface area of the pods and see what happens for shits and giggles. About a third. And if not upgrade carbs cause realistically cvs are of no performance.value

82 GPZ1100 with 1135cc big bore kit 10.5-1 compression, stock cams and stage 1 porting by Pitstop performance. I am running pods with a kerker KR pipe with the race baffle off an 82 KZ1000S1. I spent nearly 6 months and about $300.00 in jetting and "jet kits" for the BS34's and was never able to get them dialed in. I even bought another set of BS34's thinking the set I had was somehow defective. I must have taken the carbs on and off and had themn apart over 50 times trying to figure why they wouldn't work. Live and learn I guess.

Just wondering if you are using the Non Bleed type of pilot jet or the bleed type? Are the pilot jet plugs in place, and what sort of setting are you at with the mixture screws?

Have a look at this thread on Pilot Jets for the CV carb. This where I found clear pictures for each type. The small holes are an Emulsion tube, which does cause an effect on the slow circuit. It may be small though. Just wondering which you have, as I believe the Non- Bleed is the Stock type.

Yes, I had the same hanging idle and for the bleed jets it doesn't matter what type you use. I tried both and they never made a difference. I really think the intake porting screws up the vacumn signal to the CV carbs not alowing the idle circuit to operate correctly.
As I mentioned earlier I have used BS34's in a lot of different bikes with success but this was the first time I used them on an engine with intake porting.
If you do happen to get yours to work let me know and how you did it.

Baldy, when you can, give me more details on your current carb set up and any advantages it has over other carbs (CRs, flat slides etc.)
