A turbo and a supercharger both basically do the same thing right? The supercharger is just more efficient. At least that what my shop teacher says. The turbo just crams air into the motor just like a supercharger only with recycled exhaust right?

Both turbo and supercharger force additional fuel mixture into the cylinder.
Turbo -- Exhaust spins the Turbo without using engine power.
Fresh air is used in the fuel mixture. Exhaust output isn't part of the fuel mixture.
Engine must be spinning for exhaust pressure to spin the turbo. That's the reason for turbo "lag" from low rpm, which occurs until the engine gets going fast enough to produce sufficient exhaust pressure to spin the turbo. Lower compression pistons are fitted, which allows larger combustion chambers for the turbo to force-feed. The initial low compression also contributes to the lag time off idle. And when the exhaust pressure gets sufficient to spin the turbo, then the magic happens.
Supercharger -- Uses some engine power to force-feed additional fuel mixture into the cylinder.
It performs immediately off idle, and without lag. Instant magic.
At least that's my simplistic understanding. Others will have better and more competent explanations.
Good Fortune!

Do you guys think maybe theres a way to make your own kind of Turbo/Supercharger? Like maybe air scoops that come out of the airbox and catch air at high speeds to blow into the carbs?

that would be ram air kt.
turbo or supercharger is the preffered method of getting "compressed air "into a combustion chamber.

I think the 1990 ZX11 was the first to have a functional ram air, it added 7-10 hp on top end (175 mph or so).

30 Dec 2011 13:29 - 30 Dec 2011 13:31supercharger takes hp to turn, not tunable like a turbo without a lot of work to overdrive/underdrive blower.Kitten Tooth wrote: A turbo and a supercharger both basically do the same thing right? turbo run it on pump gas with a few lbs of boost ,idles like a stocker.
you want to go hot rodding with a turbo bike real basic:back off the timing/adjust boost-waste gate and dump some good gas in there, instant dr jeckel/mr hyde.
to put it back on the street just reverse procedure in 15 minutes or less with a little practice
