I have read at least a half dozen posts about this now and someone keeps mentioning "mods to carbs beyond jetting" but never is specific.

Id like to run bs34's with either individual pods or the larger ones with the dual openings that you run two filters total, possibly with velocity stacks.

I have a motor with no carbs, and I am leaning this way because I am familiar with cv carbs, but it seems like a lot of you guys are strict slide carb folks, really any input is good.

My goal isnt to make the most power possible, just smooth and reliable.

measure the i.d of the intake ports on the cyl head ,now measure the i.d of the carbs on the motor side.
if your running a 73-80 motor with stock ports your basically hitting a brick wall with the airflow.if it was a gradual transition it wouldnt be so bad,but its not. B)

Hay Plum, It's actually not as bad as you may think. The carb dimensions are obvious, 34mm ID and 40mm OD. The blending can be done by grinding a stock set of KZ900/1000 manifolds. Setting up the carbs to work with those motors and pods is a bit more difficult however. Making them respond properly and to jet them right takes experience with the configuration and those particular carbs. Wit those earlier stock motors I would use a set from a GPz750. The needles and needle jets will be about the closest for that amount of vacuum.

A DIE-GRINDER :woohoo: ;) :silly: Yes it will take a bit of grinding with a stone. 750/4 boots will work also, with a bit of modification. Back in the day, we used those boots with 33mm and 34mm smoothbores all the time.

You will obviously have to block off the fuel injection ports and the BS34 carbs will slip right into your existing boots.

The guy I got it from had it setup on 37.5 Dellortos, he admits it was a mess, but made power up top. I have no interest in running them and am looking for a good replacement.

I was considering microsquirting it, as I have had success with it in the past, but I think I want to stick with carbs...
