on a more solemn and serious note( if there is such a thing around here) also check ur petcock.Mine was shot and allowing gas to leak into the carb bowls which then filled up and leaked all over everything.bj

will definitely change the oil. took petcock apart and everything seemed fine. somebody didn't put on a hose clamp, thus the leak. carbs next.

I figured out a functional fix, though not a permanent one. If I back off on the choke immediately when the bike starts, no gas in the exhaust. Full choke seems to suck out too much gas-maybe fuel level too high or float problem. will hopefully find out when I look at the carbs, but at least I know how to avoid the initial problem. thanks for all the help.
