Replied by WABBMW on topic Jet Needles / Main Jets / Gas Mileage
From all my experimenting with the BS32 carbs on my '82 KZ650 - the bike ran best and with most power, with Main jets 2 sizes over stock, pilot jets 1 size over stock, and the jet needles raised by 1 mm. from stock. Using stock air box and filter. Gas mileage was down from stock by about 20%, but it ran strong.

The last change I made was to return the jet needles to stock position, leaving everything else the same. What I expected, was to have the gas mileage improved - it did improve. Also expected reduced performance until 3/4 throttle - and it is reduced. I also expected wide open throttle performance to still be strong - but it was considerably poorer.

My jet needles have very little taper to them. Is it possible that even when the slides have raised fully, that the needles are still restricting the flow and the Main jets are not able to become the limiting orifice? I cannot understand why the WOT performance dropped off. Anybody have an idea? Thanks.
