One tank mounting objective is to avoid a solid metal connection between tank and bike frame, so that with the tank being totally rubber isolated, it won't pick up vibration from the frame.
The British twins endeavored to isolate their fuel tanks with rubber mounting, but they vibrated right through the rubber. :woohoo:
And at speed, handlebar grips and foot pegs felt gigantic.
Good Fortune!

yeah my 71's honda 350 and 450 had the tank tab that slipped into rubber pocket.
my kz650 has no tab just a "spade that stabs the grommet"
also i think i am glassing a new cafe seat here soon.
i think i will drill a hole in the "spade" push it through the grommet and put a clevis pin on it. it will still be "rubber isolated"
thanks for letting me bounce it around..
great place here.

Or maybe a hitch pin clip, depending on tab form and space available, for perhaps easier and quicker fitment and removal, besides smaller hole required for clip as opposed to pin.
Same for side cover security.
Just thoughts.
Good Fortune!
