I finaly found some time and took the tops off the carbs, pulled out the slide with the needle and took the screws out the top to expose the needle. I found only one notch with an "E" clip. So there is no way to move it up or down. Am I missing something here? The bike has Mikuni's on it

On needles with the single notch, you can use small washers as shims under the clip to enrichen your needle circuit.

1 washer per each at a time, can make a considerable difference.

Thanks, they have one washer on them now. I will tear down one of my other sets of carbs to see if I can get more washers

I don't knoe if I did it the correct way, but I did it. I had a few sets of carbs laying around and one set was already dissassembled. So I used the washers out of them. It does seem much, much smother through the RPM range. Not quit as crisp as I would like off idle, but hey, the surge is gone. And thank God! That was kind of a pain to do on the bike. I didnt realize the metering needle didnt hang straight down. Getting it back into the jet was interesting to say the least!Again, not sure I did it the right way, but its done! Now on the the cam and break upgrades!
