what would i have to do to switch to the 4 air pods and is it worth it ??
Some considerations ---
Earlier failure of carb holders due to increased stress (unless additional support is furnished at rear of carbs, which support is often neglected);
Probable tuning difficulties, especially when seeking to achieve consistent carb performance throughout entire throttle range;
Performance sometimes diminished by cross-winds, and traffic passing situations;
Contributes to loss of sidecovers, which are more prone to blow off at speed when pods are fitted;
Propensity to ingest water during wet riding or washing;
Maintenance of four air filters, instead of just one;
Expense of a high quality set, such as K&N's;
Sometimes improper fitment design blocks entrance to pilot air passage;
Re-routing crankcase breather hose;
More easily removed when disconnecting carbs from engine (when compared with old hardened airbox intake hoses), but especially beneficial during the several r&r's frequently required incident to necessary re-jetting;
Carbs are just as easily removed where the airbox intake hoses are soft and pliable, and new hoses are less expensive than pods;
Pods may sometimes be the most feasible option where airbox has been removed.
Are considered by many to look really cool.
Some well-respected pod proponents do indeed swear by pods, especially toward seeking that last half-pony of power at top end. While many others prefer to just keep cruising along with the efficient user-friendly airbox as MaKaw intended.
Good Luck!

Bike runs great
Ninja Gods happy.
Airbox downside:
Carbs hard to take off and put on (due to hard boots)
Solution: Get new boots.
Pods Upside:
Carbs are a breeze to put on (but as mentioned need to fab support for carb bank or risk deforming engine connectors)
Possible .5 hp increase (if carbs are fiddeled with and dialed in correctly)
Pods are cheap (Important: Good pods are not cheap)
Pods downside:
Cheap fall apart pods.
Hard to dial in pods.
Wet weather affects pods.
Side winds and windblasts from passing trucks and cars affects pods. Resulting in lean out condition and loss of power.
Getting airbox off is a pain in the butt.
Putting airbox back on is bigger pain in the butt.
Pods reduce resell price (to be fair they might enhance sell for some but usually not for a classic.)
You anger the Ninja Gods and men in flowing black suits will nun-chuck you until you remove the pods.
Pods contribute to global warming by osmosis.
Only thing that looks good with pods is Angelina Jolie.
Pods? Ever see Invasion of the Body Snatchers Bunky?
Pods WILL make you cry.....
And the #1 reason pods are not cool.....
You cannot argue with a pod!
