What kind of petcock screws into an adapter plate? On that setup I think I'd use JB weld on the threads.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

See the picture farther back in the thread Ron. It's a manual petcock with reserve. If I JB weld the petcock to the plate, then I would need a way to seal the plate to the tank whenever I remove it. The adapter plate does not seal with an o-ring like the original petcock, so they supplied some blue colored sealer called Hylomar Blue. I priced that stuff and it is very expensive for a little tube. It's easier to seal the plate to the tank one time with the little package of sealer they gave me, and then I only replace the teflon tape when I need to remove the petcock.

That's exactly what I did when I replaced the leaky factory petcock with the manual pingel from Z1. Everything is working fine using white teflon tape.
