Can someone explain to me the difference between the vaccume and the manual petcock?
On my 650 B2 the vaccume hose connects to the carbs, I am assuming that this hose is eliminated when using the manual.
SO - do you need to block off the hole where the old vaccume tube used to go?

Hey Guys,

Vacuum petcock is designed to be always OFF (in either PRI or RES position) until actuated by receiving vacuum from a running engine. Eliminates need to remember physically (manually) turning it OFF when the engine is shut down. Manual petcock has three positions, which are ON, OFF and REServe.
Converting from vacuum to manual eliminates the vacuum hose, at which time the vacuum nipple at the carb should be capped off where the hose previously attached.
FYI -- manual's ON (and RES) are same through fuel flow as vacuum's PRIme.
Good Luck!

ya me 2, i always replace the vacume ones with the manual petcocks, mutch less hassle.
I just installed a pingel manual shutoff on my '77 650 and even in the shutoff position there is still a puddle of fuel under the bike the next day. Still the same old problem. Maybe I should have nought the expensive model?
