I have a 79 kz1000 st and I haate the carbs that are on it.Is there anyone that has used different carbs that worked??

29mm smoothbore mikuni's they are the best small carb ever made and i'm not really biased. they will bolt right up to the stock manifolds and use the stock throttle cables.

true 29 smoothbores are as good a carb as you will findB) but if the bike is stock a good set of 26mm or 28mm will save you a lot of $$$$$.the 29s are going for anywere from $400 to $600 on ebay:woohoo: you can get a good set of 26s for $100 to $150.

just stay away from the exelorator pump carbs they are a true pain in the ass!:S

they were an aftermarket performace carb they put on roadrace bikes and dragbikes but they are an excellent street carb as well keep your eyes peeled on dragbike.com and e-bay.

Yeah thats the carbs I have on my bike now (with the excelorator pump) And I have about $400 in them so far and they are still crap! I bought a dyna stage 3 jet kit and had it installed and have tinkered with them all year but it just keeps getting worse. The sad thing is I can't find anyone to pay to work on them!

i have three sets of them in my garage and i cant get any of them to work good.i can rebuild a set of 26s (with out the pump)in my sleep and make them run like new carbs,but not the exelorator pump carbs.maybe its just me i dont know
