Early Gigser carbs go in pretty well. Kwak 2&3 intakes are a bit too wide for those carbs but just a little force they will fit. By 34mm flatslides you mean flatslide CV-carbs? Early Gigsers came with Mikuni TM33 mechanical flatslides which are pretty rough but I just love them. CV (vacuum operated slides) are probably much more civilized as the manual slides are more racing-touch.

 This is what i have.I bought off ebay, the seller had it listed as kz 1000 carbs, obvisley not but knew it was a flatslide. He measured and said they were 34mm. I have just had mixed feelings on what is the better of the two. Other is a factory pumper,

Hard to tell from the photo with pods in the way, but those look like BS34 CV carbs, no?

Here's what flatslides look like:

Am I wrong?

Wow i get more and more lost as i go. lol What is the (BS) stand for? I dont have carbs in hand yet so cant remove pods. Would like to go with these if it is a good move. What is your thought on will they run as good or better then the factory's? heres another pic. Thx for your time.

Kind of hard to tell with such a tiny photo (could you bump up the image size any?), but they still look to me to be BS34 carbs.

These carbs came standard on later model ('81+) KZ1000s and KZ1100s. I think you should be able to get them to work on your '79, but there are some changes you will need to make.

You'll need to get larger intake manifold boots to accomodate the 34mm ports. Also, your bike's stock carbs probably used a two-cable push/pull throttle setup. The BS34s only use a single pull cable. And the cable ends for this type of carb are different than stock--so you may need to either do some resarch to find out if you can get a cable that will attatch to your throttle handle up top and this type of carb at the bottom; OR you may need to switch to a different throttle control housing up top and use a standard throttle cable from a later model year.

As for adjustments to jetting and all that, I'll defer to our resident carb guru, WiredGeorge on that one.

In Extremetopguns pic they may well be flatslide CV carbs from a GSXr.

One way to check is yo open the top cover. If the slide is roundshape then they may be BS34´s. If the slide is flat then its, well flatslide probably from a GSXr.

In following pic you´ll see TM 33 mechanical flat slides from a GSXr. CV flat slide have a round top cover (red circle in pic) where the vacuum diapfram is.

unless theres been some serious headwork done and a set of cams id stick with something more in the area of 28-29 carbs myself.leave the 34 flatslides for dragbikes ,ive never used the cv style carbs .i know of a really healthy 1385 streetbike here in town that runs just fine with 36 flatslides and thats a whole lot more motor.;)

Well these are 34's Not flats tho. They did come off a '82 kaw csr so i was told. Looks like only one jet inside and its a 122.5. Everything seems to be great on it. Bolted up fine, cable is good. Had to put choke on all the way just to get to start, push it in it dies. All 4 plugs are sparking bright white but if i touch the exhaust pipes only one is getting hot, other 3 are still cold even after a min or two. All 4 bowls have gas but i have to be missing something. Any suggestions???
