Anyone that doesn't think the carbs need support look at this KZ650 on ebay. Dragbike that ran 6s 1/8 mile times which equates to 9-10 second in the quarter! Sure it did!

90mph in the 1/8 is hi 10's at best on a bar bike...

that bike has been sitting since 1985probably outside, of course the carbs fell off.

good rubber, gd clamps, no problems.

you cant "drop a carb" (unless u got lectrons) because they are on a bank, they're all connected. the whole bank has to move. so if they arent all the way on, yea u most likely will have a problem, but it wont be because of the weight, its because you didnt install em right. nobodys perfect, mistakes happen. nitrous backfire could probably blow em off tho....

Well the boots only lasted a year before they started cracking. Maybe the aftermarket boots arent as good as the factory boots too. I just figured it couldnt hurt to support them, Im not worried that they will fall off. I did have a new 72 Sportster with a  carb that was held on by a hose clamp that fell off in a week with less then 100 miles on it. I mean literally fell off as in hanging by the cable

harley...lol sounds like it was "hardly" put together

not trying to start a debate, zip ties or a actual bracket would seem to be your best bet-

but all the kz's ive seen, ridden, owned, and gs1000/1100/1150's &honda cb750's as well-similar design- i've never seen any1 bother with a support bracket, or have a problem because they didnt have one. seems like a waste of time.

my rubbers are about 9years old, and the 33's i got take alot of effort to get on and off. they dont sag at all, even before i tighten the clamps.

The same harley Sportster made it .6 miles and had to be picked up by the dealer after it quit because a wire was too short and pulled apart. The the carb deal, then the crank started coming aprt & knocking, wrong taper where pressed together. After that got fixed I traded it on a new Z1. Still got them, think I like them, no problems. It would tow the Sportster faster then it would run on its own. Ran 12.19 @ 108.95, pretty stout stock except a pipe in 73. I wont worry about the carbs then. Acual topend on Sportster was 105, got outrun by a 305 Honda, true story

Probably like anything, some guys have problems some don't. I had to replace the intake manifolds 3 or 4 times on the KZ650 with pods before I finally supported the carbs and have never had to replace an intake on any Kawasaki with the stock box or the 650 since the carbs got support. I'd call that more than just a coincedence. Probably depends on how you ride too, like bumpy roads will beat the heck out of the intakes with unsupported carbs
