Ok, I'm at my wits' end....seriously.
I'm posting in here because through troubleshooting I think this would be the place to check:
so here is my issue: Trying to get my bike going, gapped spark plugs at .032mm, gapped my points at .015mm; brand new dyna coils 3.0 ohm; getting a reading on a voltmeter from the coils, getting spark from all the plugs, but no firing...
I cleaned my carbs recently and I'm using a makeshift fuel delivery system as I clean my tank and paint it. Fuel drained into the bowls, but then it seemed like the throttle wasn't drawing anything.
I know my engine needs fuel, air and electricity.... it's getting air (I can feel a draw on the air intakes), and the electricity IS getting through...
I have no reason to believe my jets are clogged, but could that be a culprit?
PLEASE HELP!!!
I JUST WANT TO RIDE!

I'd go with martijn's suggestion. Swap the primary leads from one coil to the other and see if that isn't the problem.

Does it even try to start? Leave throttle alone, full choke. Are plugs wet? Try spraying starting fluid or carb spray and see if it catches. Double check timing, valve adjust...

What bike is this,Lee?(put it in your signature, bud).

Did you by any chance have the timing advance mechanism apart?(for cleaning).
If you did,did you reinstall the cammed collar back the same way it came off,and not out by 180 degrees?

ok... so I checked my compression and I think THIS is where the root of my problem lies. Each of the 4 cylinders has between 50-60 psi. Not NEARLY enough.
Could this be due to the engine valves? Will I just need to look into a top-end rebuild?

Could very well have something to do with valves...for sure.
Time to pull the cover off and investigate further.
You'll have to check your valve clearances to start off with.

Again...what bike?(put it in your sig)

it is a 78 KZ1000 police bike.
as far as I know the engine has never been rebuilt.

as far as pulling off the top, I don't know where to begin with valve adjustments. Is there a tutorial on here about it? Or can someone help me with that? I bought the Clymer manual online so that will be here soon.
I am not a mechanic or a mechanical genius by any scope of the imagination, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

please describe the technique you used to perform the compression test.

If required, there are no magical widgets or zen mechanical finesse required to setup your valves.

I picked up a simple compression tester and tested each cylinder. I was puzzled when each cylinder read basically the same, low pressure... I figured it would vary, but what do I know? ;)
So to make sure I was doing it right I tested one of my cylinders on my yamaha and got a more acceptable 120+ psi.
This is the technique I used

Pull all 4 plugs out,so the engine will turn over easily, and make sure you have the throttle WIDE OPEN,for max air, during the test.
Do a check on each cylinder twice and write down the numbers. Now do it again, but this time, add some oil into the cylinder, coating the piston. Not a lot,but enough to cover the piston,so it hits the entire cylinder wall. Now check the compression again, turning it over for about 6 seconds on each try.Jot those numbers down too,and them compare the DRY-test numbers against the WET-test numbers.
This will tell you if it's the rings that are worn.
Once you run the engine, the oil you put into the cylinders will just burn off. You'll see some smoke come out the pipe, but don't panic,it's normal.
