gpz/ kz carb swap was created by Bdog
Hey guys, I am swapping a set of 83-85 gpz750 carbs on the 80 kz motor. My throttle only has one cable, the gpz carbs have two cables and the length on the one I have doesn't have enough travel to even hook it up. Has anyone done this swap, and if so with which cable/throttle handle setup. Prolly the gpz750 stuff huh? I think after three years I throw the one I had away. Damn.

As far as I know you should use both cables. In some carbs (flat slides , no vacuum) slides tend to stick due to vacuum/suction of the engine. The other cable is there to pull slides down, otherwise youl get cruise control which ain´t that nice;)

Check for example:

www.kzzone.com/carbs.html

..."Must be used with #PPT100 push pull throttle and cable assembly"

Check Wired George's website he has a section on there about mounting BS34 carbs. IIRC you should get a cable from a cop bike. I need to buy one myself the carbs I have only uses one cable and it shows 2 for the cop bike on Kaw's website. I'm having a difficult time trying to determine which of the 2 to get.

Most of the BS34 assemblies only use one throttle cable and there are THREE separate sets of return springs. If one spring were to fail, the throttle rod would return the throttle plates to closed. I think that two cables may provide unnecessary. I can't say for sure why a few BS34 assemblies used a return cable as MOST did not.

I am not saying that they NEED the two cables but I noticed a location for the second cable. Any info on a cable that would have enough throw for my stock 80 kz twist grip to work be fantastic, otherwise I would have to update and I don't asthetically want to, as well as I don't want to deal with the new connector. Thanks guys and gurls.
