ok the vent tubes on the carb set up had a hose running from one nipple to the other. I noticed this was wrong after reading about the carbs on wired george's web site. I simply took my knife and cut the hose in half. the bike is now running like I think a kz 1000 should. I wanted to thank everyone for helping out and I just wanted to post the solution I found here so every one can see it.
