Depends on how quickly you are going wide open. That bike uses a manual slide carburetor. You can't turn the throttle as fast as possible, from idle, without a bog on that type of carb. It needs to be rolled gradually as the RPMs increase.
From idle to full throttle should take .5 to 1 second in neutral. If you take 1 second to go from idle (1200 to 1300 RPM) to full throttle (in neutral), and it bogs noticeably or backfires or stumbles, you probably have a problem.
You should be able to do it in about half a second, if you start slowly and finish fast.
In first gear it takes a little longer... maybe between 1 and 2 seconds.

Ok let me start over. 82 kz550 ltd. stock air box. stock exhaust.
I just did a carb tune with my electronic carb tuner. This bike idles like a new bike @1000 rpms. If I rev the throttle fast in neutral, it does fine. No miss fire or decel pops, just like a new bike. I can ride the bike all day long like a grandmaw.
Problem: from any speed 1/8 or greater quick throttle acceleration it starts to bogg. Trying to go up hills; even if I down shift, it boggs trying to mantain normal speed . I can't kick it like a passing gear.

What are the specs for the comp test?
Does anyone know if I can adjust the cam chain on this year? I see it under the carbs.

Have you put a timing light on it? The ignition advancer may be stuck.

Ok here is the scoop. I took carbs off and all of the jets were clogged. So I have taken them apart, soaked them and clean them. Now Im ready to put them back on. I have 4 questions.
1. What are the specs for a compression check.
2. What are the specs for the air/gas(mixture screw) needle.
3. When balancing these carbs which carb is the reference carb?
4. Is there anyway to adjust the timing chain adjuster eventhough its automatic.
