The Z1 is now black and runs a 1327cc motor with 40mm Lectrons. I am just finishing up a complete rebuild on it, it has a scratch built custom chassis, not a back half conversion. I bought it as a roller and built the motor.
I have another lay down car tire frame I am also going to rebuild. It has "Race Design" and "Grand Island Precision" lettering on the rear fender so it may have been worked on by Paul Gast at one point. It had a Denco "Stage 3" motor in it, but I only bought the rolling chassis and have a 1200cc Z1 motor going into it with a Eaton supercharger.

It has a 15" x 8" slick, so small car tire (VW?) So far all I did to it was take all the stickers off the tail and remove the two stroke motor mounts. I mocked up the engine in the frame to make sure it will fit with the supercharger mounted behind the head.
Personally I don't think it is a Puppet frame, its a bit too sloppy/jenky to be his work. I have seen some of his work up close and the frame I have is a beginners work that was possibly done by somebody that had too many beers.

Looks to be a Kosman frame same as mine.I owned this bare frame back in the 80's. This was taken after the annual Fairbanks Alaska drag races, on the way back to Anchorage. Fairbanks would shut down one of their main streets and set up the lights and let the drag racers have at it. Good fun back then.....

So what is your opinion on that roller?Lets see that car tire frame. Race Design was the Infamous "PUPPET" from the early 80's Pre- "Racevisions" Don't ruin that paint! Puppet painted that! As these items also. Pictures!!
You can see in the last picture the lower frame rails are wonky, up close the welding is terrible, looks MIG welded to me. It looks like there was no attempt to get it symmetrical.
I talked to my local drag race guru and he says he can fix it no problems.
I am just looking to build a nice nostalgia bike I can run on test and tune day, I am not going to bracket race it for points.
