The complete kit i´ve shown above with 10 +10 thread inserts, ( 16mm + 10 mm lenght) had cost me about 30,- USD incl. shipping, so it was a simple choice for me, for this price i hadn´t get any M14x1,25mm tap, inserts and and driver separate...

Just in case: yesterday I bought 10 such threaded inserts very cheaply for less than $2...
( Inside M 14 x1,25 mm,..Outside M16 x 1,25mm,..by 17,5 mm lenght)...To have it, is better than to need it...!!!

Very interesting !
The funniest job I did, long time ago was a Can-Am, single-cylinder motocross that came to my shop (I mean...he rode it! ) with all the cylinder studs broken. Imagine the whole block bouncing !!!
The 04 helycoils installed made a happy rider :)

On a less fortunate note, my KZ900 head is in the machine shop for a valves sterm trim....:) I noticed after removal that a helycoil previously installed for the camshaft cap came off partialy
A closer look from the machinist revealed that some more helicoils might be needed :(

To be honest MFP-Joebut these black "thinks" are cheap China Ching-Chang-Chong Time Sert knock-offs!!!
Real Würth Time Serts are copper plated/colored ones.......

Kawboy, I hear ya - I've got the head off my Z1A  to replace all the valve seals. About half of the cam cap holes threads are worn to the point of being loose, so I'm gonna heli-coil all 16 while i'm there. Fortunately the od of the thread inserts (and the tap) are just smaller than the id of the 2 locating bushings at each cap, so all will fit correctly after installing the heli-coils and I won't lose that feature.

You can bore, cut threats deeper, to use studs with loctite and use locking nuts!
Setting helicoils would be the last step/resort in my opinion........

You´re right, scirocco, as i´ve mentioned, they have been cheap,..and maybe a handfull of brownies,... but for this price it would be a fun for me to give them a try in a block of aluminum, put (as ever) some copperpaste on the plugs thread, hotten the alu-block several times, pull the plug also few times,..and than i will judge about and be able to report here...

Bye the way:  Are you satisfied with theese Neway seat cutters?  i´ve worked only with Hunger-tools in the past and have no experiences with Neway cutters..
Greetings, Joe
