I have changed the rubbers on my lc when I replaced the basket,i think the springs are instead of rubbers,
fyi I don’t think the drawing in the manual is the same as my clutch theres no mushroom (pushes the pressure plate)on mine like in the drawing
Have you some pictures of your set up, you have the 6 spring basket which is for the KZ and GPZ1100 (the 1000 has five springs) the parts diagram I posted is for a 83 gpz1100 and matches the diagram in the manual ?? I checked my basket when I got home, it has zero play.
The pic you posted that has been welded is one that has been repaired, you have to grind the heads off the rivets, replace the dampers, clamp the two parts together and then replace the rivet heads with weld.

Mine has a ball bearing a long pushrod a short pushrod (maybe 30mm long) and a steel cap that fits inside the pressure plate against a large circlip
so the part diagram you post is different from the workshop manual, there must be two types of mechanisms at the pressure plate both are on your drawing only one is on the workshop manual (at least I haven’t lost a bit) . Is your clutch complete or stripped like mine?

Mine is stripped but mine is a 1000 so different mechanism to yours. The springs in the basket appear to be the same as the pressure springs (CMNSL list 12 per vehicle - 6 & 6) try speaking to "Debbon performance" for advice (they are Kawasaki guru's)

On the parts diagram the second option (in brackets) is marked as "ST" so "shaft drive" models

Talked to Wookie Stu. I have a J basket but it came off a chain drive "thinking" 1981 KZ1000. Are you in Europe? It's in a box around here somewhere. But honestly looks like those rivets, as Wookie mentioned, have gotten worn on the basket rivet holes upsetting tolerances and also clearance. I do the Z1 and KZ thru 1980 all the time and believe they are identical in design. NO Rubber to be found..anywhere.

Stu here's the one i have and a collection of the earlier styles. No play in it at all! It's 97T ring gear. Maybe like yours? I don't do a lot of the J engines though, just sporadically. Considering the abundance of these parts, might be cheaper to just purchase a "good" used one!
