I have made the same research. I will wait an owner to post his L2 manual!

Very few people have a paper parts manual for their bike.  A service manual is easy to find, but NO on the parts manual.  I think finding one may be even harder than finding the correct exhaust pipe.

I have the paper parts book for the L1 European market, the number 3 header pipe is listed as reference 18049A, part number 18049-1123.
Not the L2 but hope it helps.

You are a life saver at least you help me to support my theory. So the L1 has 18049-1123, the L3-L5 have 18049-1143. SO I must find now if there is any different number for L2. Is it possible to check your exhaust pipes ? Do they have the mark E004? Many many thanks.

However the fact that the L1 has -1123 and the others 1143 I am 99% that there is no other number between them. Thank you mate !!! You made my day happier!

Sadly in my country I have never seen a stock set of pipes, i think they all went in the skip 40 years ago. I have a 4 into 1, and have given up looking :)

Puzzle 90% Solved! The 18049-1123 *probably has E003, the 18049-1143 has the E004 for sure and 18049-1163 has the E005 for sure mark concerning the emissions.

*If  echelon  verify it from his bike we will have all the data for anyone else.
Now concerning the years

Note for new readers. The Topic debates the Emissions concerning the Years. All pipes as  Wookie58  said are the same.

Thank you very much!

The most people put a 4-1 yes. Personally I do not even move it the last 15 years. I restoring it slowly slowly...for fun within my empty time. I knew it from the first moment that I can put multiple year pipes. I am trying to do it 100% as factory. I have also found the genuine original safety-instruction stickers :) and put them.

Yes as also from -1143. However my main concern was the emissions not the compatibility. Thank you for the time you spent.

It seems to me, that It would be against the law for Kawasaki to discontinue an old part, and replace it with another, if the new part increased emissions.  Not to mention, who's going to be checking the numbers?  If there are dudes in your country who check numbers on such parts, where are they getting their information from?  Maybe ask them?

There will be no difference at all. It's about the factory condition. I would like to restore it exactly as it was. For example within past research the warning stickers were different on the latest model....What's the difference at the end.... none, it's all about how ambitious everyone is. Generally the restoration process has no limits (concerning the ambitions of any person). Thanks for your kind interest.

I wonder if part of the difficulty here is a translation issue. In the U. S., when someone uses the word “emissions,” it is generally understood to mean the exhaust gas pollutants that the engine produces.
The connotation of the term is sometimes similar to the word produce. The engine produces or emits pollutants. We also say a company produces exhaust pipes.

It may be that thanos12 is talking about the correct production numbers for his specific motorcycle, and is getting tripped up by one of the many complex subtleties of the English language.

On the other hand, I could be completely wrong.
1982 KZ1000 LTD parts donor
1981 KZ1000 LTD awaiting resurrection
2000 ZRX1100 not ridden enough

I will reply using simple worlds. My bike when produced had the mark E0004 up on pipes. I am searching those exact pipes :)
Thank you.
