I hooked the starter to some jumper cables after taking it out - same issue - I need a used one - if I need used one - if I can’t find I’ll buy new - I’m not rebuilding folks - don’t want to will not - if you have a starter lying around let me know - REMINDER - I’m not rebuilding - no more post about me rebuilding -

Have you looked into getting yours re-built, it's more reliable than used ( remember the part you get will also likely be 40 years old) and significantly cheaper than new. I don't know where in the world you are but in the uk this is normally around a week and approx $100 or less
