The vin stamp is not factory.
The case bolts were changed, I'll think about it at dinner.

So its is definitely a restamp on a later case as the plate is 80mm where it should be 65m for a low number Z1. Ah well.. the cases are still sound and i have a home for them in the future, not the pedigree i was looking for but the engine as a whole is sound.

The longer pad was introduced around S/N 27,000.  The early font was used until about 34,000, which is when they added the lip.   The lower right case photo shows that the cases are Z1 or early Z1A.  Putting all this together suggests it was an early Z1A case produced after S/N 27,000 but before 34,000.The photo below shows the lower right corner on a Z1B.  This bolt pattern was also used on later Z1A's.  But as I mentioned above it was different for Z1 and Z1A.

I agree with HRM. Good thing is it’s a Z1 engine. Bad news the value is only in the parts. As a whole engine restamped it’s value is gone. Definitely it’s a restamped. The “E” is wrong and the “9”.

The two bolt case appeared at z1e-34000 ?

It was roughly mid way through the Z1A run.  I don't know the exact number but around the same time as the serial number font change.

This is a mystery, I was vaguely aware the case changed but no idea when, investigation is needed.
74 ran to Z1F-47499, mid way is Z1F-33749
