I made it. The lower part of the oil cooler bracket is a copy of the KZ1000S1 oil cooler bracket. The top part of the bracket I copied from something Muzzy had on one of the '81 Kawasaki Superbikes. I got pretty good at fabbing up all kinds of brackets over the years. Plus I had a welder extraordinaire that did all my welding back then. Some of the rubber gromments I used are the battery box gromments from H1 and H2 Kawasaki triples!!!

Here is where I got most of my ideas for making my oil cooler bracket.

1972 H2 750 Cafe Racer built in 1974.
1976 KH400 Production Road Racer.
1979 Kz1000 MK. II Old AMA/WERA Superbike.
1986 RG500G 2 stroke terror.
1986 GSXR750RG The one with the clutch that rattles!

Nope!!!! The top parts of my oil cooler mount are NOT Z1 battery hold down straps. I started with 1 inch x .080 4130 moly. Heated and bent into shape. The hard part was getting the 180 degree bend where the rubber straps fit into to match. It took me 4 or 5 different pieces to get 2 matching straps. I used to hang around a welder that built Pro Stock drag race car chassis' That is where I picked up all my metal fabrication skills from. He even made the comment one time that he should charge me for all the tips and information I picked up just from watching him work with metal!!!

Thanks for the reply, I actually already bought 8 battery box grommets to use for a bracket before I saw yours. I should be able to fab up something similar...
Thanks

I bought a cheap GPZ1100 UT oil cooler and fittings from evil bay for my engine set up and some new oil cooler lines and ear hose clamps.
It´s a low buget task with lying around parts for testing and will finished next.

Oil flow and oil hose routing

Does it matter which oil line goes to the top of the cooler? I always thought that the output line goes to the top and the return line to the bottom of the cooler

Most coolers will have the lines on the top or bottom depending how you install it .
Few if any are set up for side fittings , so no top and bottom lines
Look at the coolers shown above

If you mount the cooler with the lines at the top you gain a little extra oil capacity and quicker circulation on start up as the cooler retains its contents when stood.
Just remember to drain the cooler of used oil when doing oil changes.

Anybody heard of using a VW oil cooler? just throwing it out there. I vaguely recall seeing something in the old KZR archives.

Most car coolers should work
At one time we would cut coolers out of Ford cars that were used for power steering
