Me too! And I'm thinking maybe it's the previous owner who glued it in there, after it kept falling out while driving perhaps? Can't really tell because the threads had to be re-done after the drilling.

Sounds like this would have been the perfect job for an Electro Arc machine. Wish I had one at times.
