Pulled the silencer out of the exhaust thinking I could re-pack the perforated tube.. SURPRISE! Anyway, a photo just in case anyone was curious.

I saw this baffle on EB. not sure if it's still available. I've had the photo for a while.
The 2nd pic is of a 750-4 muffler that broke off. The muffler itself has additional baffling of course.

pretty cool.
I bought some perforated pipe and packed it. I'm sure my reflected wave back to the valve is all messed up, but it sounds ok and lambda is within range.
I posted just in case someone had a kz440 and wondered what was beyond those 3 welds.

Kawasaki certainly came up with an elegant way to break up a wide spectrum of frequencies.

I'm trying to understand that original photo... that's what came out of the muffler? Which end is the exhaust?(!).

Wow, what a complex design. You could probably pack around baffle tube (#4).

I wanted to run a straight through pipe.
I bought an exhaust baffle online and packed it to fit inside the stock megaphone.
The destruction was due to my curiosity and lack of 110v ac.
The sound is better and lambda is in range so no need to go back to stock.

Would be curious what that sounds like now, and also which baffle you bought.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationOne day I may record the sound. I don't have my calibrated microphone on me right now and my phone microphone is definitely not accurate.
The baffle was an ebay purchase as I'm trying not to go too crazy with spending money.

I wrapped packing around them and pushed them as far into the muffler housing as possible.
I tried to match the pipe size coming into the muffler to prevent a drastic slowdown in exhaust speed.
I did run the bike with just the empty megaphone for a bit but the resonance at 6k was too much and it was just loud at the wrong frequencies.
